Bagger Nation System for my Ultra Limited
#11
I'm finally going to do a little work to my '10 FLHTK to help the sound. Right now just have the hogtunes 5.25 speakers in the fairing.
I bought the dragonfly speaker adapters while I was at Thunderbeach. I have a set of 6.5" Infinity Reference 6032cfs I was going to put in the fairing and must move the hogtune 5.25's to the rear pods.
I'd like to power both sets of speakers, but at 2ohms, it looks like the only way I could do that is to run 2 PBR300X2 amps, one for the front and one for the rears.
I'll either have to remove the CB module (which I've never used in 50,000 miles) or move it under the head unit, or get one of the dummy module brackets to get a flat surface.
Even if I do that, will 2 PBR300X's fit? Or am I making too much work for myself and should I just get a PBR300X4 and replace all the speakers with 4 ohms? Although I like the idea of 150 watts at 2 ohms of pretty clean sound to all 4 speakers rather than 74 watts at 4 ohms.

2 of the pbr300x2s will not fit inside the fairing. What you could do is setup it up with one of the Alpine KTP445U 4 channel amps which is good to go at 2 ohms. and they're great amps. I moved my CB and iPod modules below the radio. I haven't tried it but I would lay odds that the Alpine amp will fit with the CB module sitting on top of the radio as it is.

i agree. I just thought about something. You say you haven't used the CB module so here's an idea by removing the CB module altogether. check out the crude drawing. This way you can mount both amps inside the fairing. 1 on top of the radio, the other below the radio just make sure to leave that air gap of at least 1/2" both on top and bottom of the radio.

cantact Scott Ezzell @ ezzell141@comcast.net
he made a bracket that relocates the CB and iPod interface under the headunit and allows the amp to be installed on top of the headunit.
