Stock radio crapped out on my Ultra. Can I replace it with a Harley issued radio from a newer model? Will the newer ones fit? Or should I just go with an aftermarket radio? I'm worried about those being weatherproof.
I have a '01 classic and the left side of the stereo quit working. I just replaced it with a Biketronics system (Sony Marine). I am very pleased with it. Easy install. Love the iPod interface. You might want to go that way.
i have a 01 EGC. the dealer told me the newer stereos use a totally differant wiring harness, would be hard to make work.. a marine radio would work a lot better, and even with the mount and switch wiring kit, it would be a lot cheaper. stock is junk, i have seen more broken stock radios.. the only ones that stay good, are the ones that are never used
The left channel is just giving out a buzzing sound while the right channel appears to be fine. I guess it's time to order one from Biketronics like all of the helpful posters recommended. Thanks
me personally, I'd buy a sony headunit with the retro kit from biketronics and be done with it. Those H/K radios are crap. Went through 4 of them on my 09 Ultra, buddy of mine is on his 4th one now for his 07 RoadGlide and when he picked it up from the dealer, all the display was in Spanish and now they want to charge him to reprogram it because 2 days after he picked the bike up, it went out of warranty. Love them HD stealerships!!
If you would like to upgrade to a cd player instead of a cassette player, you can use a 2003-2005 model radio. These radios will plug right in to 2001 wiring harness. Radios in 1998-2005 models use the same plug. Radios in 2006-2012 models have different plugs and will not fit your bike.
