Default Boom!™ Audio Cruiser Amp and Speaker Kit

I installed the H-D Boom!™ Audio Cruiser Amp and Speaker Kit on my '07 Road King. The instructions said to splice the orange wire onto the orange and white wire on the fender harness. since I've done this the taillight bulb keeps blowing. There is a orange and white wire in the headlight bezel should i run a wire to this instead?

I know when I changed my handlebars I had to cut that wiring harness on both sides to feed it through the handlebars. Well during the install when I was splicing back the wiring together, all the forums I read and people I asked all said you HAVE to make sure you match the wires EXACTLY by color and you have to soder the wires together then hear shrink them. I'm not expert but i would make sure the wires were soldered and recheck the directions to make sure about connecting those wires.
