What does it look like the max mounting depth is with these speaker boxes? These are sharp as hell but I would want to flush mount the speakers.

The speakers sit in a recess in the speaker box; the grilles I used project out from the speaker box because that's how they fit. I agree that a flush mount grille would look better. I may buy the HD grilles to achieve that flush fitment. Here's a close-up of the box without the speaker installed and you can see how the speaker mounting level is recessed:

Here are some pictures of the speaker boxes, color-matched, and installed on a beautiful CVO FLHTC:

This is what the owner sees on the bike:

These pictures are from the cvoharley.com forum. I posted about my installation there as well as here, and the owner posted the pics as he had finished his installation yesterday--I'm in Georgia; he's in California--nice coincidence in timing. Here's the thread; he reports that the sound is better with these 6.5" speakers than the 5.25" speakers he previously had installed in the lowers:

Color-matching the speaker boxes is KILLER!

Do the speaker boxes stick any further out than the stock glove boxes? I'm very interested in doing this myself but I run the H-D Heavy Breather (with a compact air filter element) and I am already at a point that I am nearly touching the glove box on the right side.

I put the glove boxes in storage; so, I can't provide you with a comparative measurement.

No problem, it's cheap enough to just go ahead and give it a try. Now if J&M would hurry up and post some pictures of their lower speaker setup.

Hmmm I wonder how color matched speaker grills would look on color matched speaker boxes.

Dr Tiki ,,,,

J&M Corporation will release in about 3 months, injection molded inner shells to fit the later model Harley lowers, similar to what Harley is now offering, but designed to hold J&M's massive 7.25" speakers, (as compared to Harley’s 6.5’s) with grill mounted tweeter and midrange,, to match the look of our current fairing speaker grills ,,,,,,

We will also offer specially designed LED light rings to be sandwiched between our new lower grill and the speaker, in the lowers position, to give a similar look to the speaker lights, used on our 7.25" fairing speaker kits ,,,,,, ((see http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....RHD-FS50&PF=43 ))) ,,,

We currently offer our 5.25” lowers speaker kit, with grill mounted tweeter & midrange for the lowers position, for $199.99 complete ,,,,,,, (((see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vvL-KUnEus ))))) and also this same bike at Reno Street Vibrations (( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9AeJJkNEns )))

We will be installing the new J&M 5.25” lowers speaker kit, at the J&M audio trailer next week during Biketoberfest, located at the south end of the vendor lot, at Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, just off the interstate in Ormond Beach FL ,,,,,,
