Buddy of mine just bought a 2011 SG and was asking about lower pods so I was looking back at this thread for the info.

It's been a while but I replaced the factory mesh upper fairing speaker covers with the matching grilles from the lower fairings a couple of months ago, just used the mesh as a template, cut them with tin snips and installed, love the look

Getting ready to install CVO speaker pods/HD grills with Infiniti Kappa 6.5's and Rockford 300x2 amp along with Aquatic AV head unit on my '13 custom. Already got infinitis and pbr 300x2 amp in fairing with stock head unit.

Any tips for guys on install? It looks to me like the HD grills do not fit flush on the speaker pod. I have heard some guys had to dremel it. Did you have to dremel 1/8 inch all the way around the speaker grill?

thanks for everybody's help this thread rocks.

just finished installing Kappas and CVO lowers on my '13, didn't trim anything. Mounted directly using HD screws and grills.

glooney - could you snap a few pics of the finished product? I am curious to see how far out your grills stick up off the PODS. Mine all line up fine without dremmel'ing however it doesnt seem as flush as some other installs ive seen.

Mine fit right in, and didn't have to do any drilling on my part, but I can't speak for others. I have read that some had issues with installing and some didn't.

Hi Cep, can you post a few pics of your speakers in lowers? I didnt end up having to dremel but they dont fit at flush as what i remember seeing come stock on 2011 SG cvo...which uses the crappy harley speakers which I am guessing are thinner than the Infinity Kappas.

Thank you Glooney for sharing! Looks about same as my install with Kappas, harley grills, in harley brand cvo pods. They actually became more flush as I tightened the grill screws down compared to when I was mocking them up in the pods without screws. I am pretty happy with em.
