JBL and Infinity are good speakers? If you're going cheap, I'd go Polk (ONLY AN OPINION HERE BRO!) . If you want good speakers (or have deep pockets, or a nut like I am), you want Paradigm. Everybody starts somewhere with electronics, like you I knew nothing (I'm a chemist!). With an advanced speaker design book from your bookstore and a soldering iron, in no time you'll be wiring out-of-phase push/pull using high-end wire and state-of-the-art stuff that is timeless and not what every guy on your block runs.
The JBL's and Infinity's arefine speakers if you want to use them with the stock HD Harmon Kardon stereo which is designed to operate with speakers that have an impedance of 2 Ohms -that's why J&M and Hog Tunes offer 2 Ohm speakers.I doubt Polk even makes a 5 1/4" 2 Ohm speaker.

Please note re:Infinity Speakers - The 52.7i Kappa's have 4 terminals to connect toadditional crossover boxes (they're not small)that you'll need to mount securely someplace beneath the fairing.(I decided against them for that reason) Both JBL GTO's and Infinity 5022's connect directly to the leads from the stereo.I ended up swapping the 52.7i's forthe 5022's.

I just installed the rockford pbr 300 mini amp. Fits great and sounds great now I just need to change the speakers. Anyone have any input on the 5 1/4 to 6 1/2 adapter rings. And do you have to use marine speakers. Thanks for any input.

I have had 6.5" infinity kappas. They sounded good but are on the "tinny" side. I am now running Polk MM 651. They sound much richer in my opinion. I also ran the Arc mini amp with both.
