After further investigation my ground has to be 6g which would explain my troubles gettin it to fit in the block on the amp. my neighbor had some extra Stinger 8g wire so i ran it real quick and the same thing happens.

Before anyone roasts me about not knowing my wires it was all ran yeaaaars ago by an old very respected member of our forum. Ive just used the same thing for all the set ups I've had since that point with no issues.

Should have 8 gauge wire minimum, for that amp. Make sure you run both the Power and the ground directly to the battery.
Check your speakers are wired up in phase.
Make sure your X-over is set to HP, and x-overs set to 120 hz to start with. You can fine tune latter
As for the amp gains, read the sticky on setting amps.

Wire gauge has been remedied. All speaker wires going into amp are correct, wires to upper speakers are correct. I need to remove the lowers speakers to double check that still. I've read the sticky on gaonsand have watched the jl audio video when i was messing with my old amp.
I should have time to go thru every today to see if anything is obviously wrong.

What voltage are you trying to adjust the gains to? Don't just turn it up, you really need to put a meter across it with a 1k test tone, I prefer -5db, others prefer 0db. Also may sound dumb but make sure you are set for 4channel (assuming 4 speakers) and that you are adjusting gains and not frequency, been there done that! LOL!

That amp is rated at 140W @ 4ohms. Tell us about the head unit and is it making clean power. At what power are you cutting out?

Which head unit are you using?

What is the DC voltage going into the amp when it starts to clip/cutout?

Does the same problem happen when the bike is running??

Just because the battery tender light is showing green doesn't say it is working properly.

Take some voltage measurements and let the group know.
