Hello there, newbie here!

I have an '08 ultra glide with the old style stereo. I love my bike, but the one thing I wish it had was the upgraded stereo found standard in the '14+ models. I would love to have the integrated GPS and bluetooth in front of me, currently have my phone mounted to the handlebars and stream through an FM transmitter, with no thumb controls for advancing songs.

The display on the newer stereos is obvious larger than the older one, which leads me to wonder if it's even possible to upgrade without replacing the entire faring. It would definitely be my preference to keep this bike and upgrade this one area than to trade it in on a '14, but I don't know where to start.

Is this upgrade possible?

 

Metra makes A inner fairing that is double din.

 

I just finished updating my 08 street glide with the metra double din dash, Sony head unit and marine speakers. Looks and sounds amazing, Apple car play works great.

 

Where did you get yours from?

 

I would wait for this one to come out, pre-orders now. Suppose to come out in November. I heard a Street Glide version is coming out later.

I just upgraded to a single din aftermarket marine HU. I don't get the bigger screen, but I can Bluetooth my phone to the HU. Handle bar controls run my HU and I can change songs on my phone from my hand controls as well.

 

I'd prefer to be able to use maps from the head unit instead of the phone.

 

This would be an example of a double-din inner fairing you would need to be able to run a double-din sized radio...Metra 95-HDIF (met-95hdif) Double DIN Inner Fairing Kit For 1998- (sonicelectronix.com). Not sure what if any changes you'd have to make to the outter fairing.
