Upgrade 20 streetglide special sounds system
I have a beautiful scorched orange streetglide special that I love but I would love it even more with a better sounds system. Like the display and all the options but the stereo could be better. So, I would like to upgrade and add saddlebag speakers. I know it will require new lids, speakers, amps. Any suggestions on which way to go? In all likely hood this is my last bike. I'm willing to spend some cash but nothing stupid crazy. I figure got to be something better than HD for the price but maybe not, not very educated on all the new options in todays market. Thanks for the help.

It really depends on how much you’re willing to spend. If you want to keep it simple, you can get a Rockford Fosgate system, which would include amp, speakers and template, to cut your stock lids, and install 6x9’s. While some of the competition guys, here, may suggest better options, this is probably your most cost effective approach. I went with the tm400x4ad amp, but, went with Hertz front speakers and Polk mm692, 6x9’s in my lids. Their are several companies, such as Volunteer Audio, American Hardbaggers, Biketronics, Sinister Sounds, etc., that offer complete packages. Also, stay away from HD, for anything audio. Also, as Fireball Jack mentioned, you really need the Rockford Fosgate radio flash, for your head unit. It will drastically improve your sound. This is a must!

I do understand, that there are better systems, but, the one I suggested, is much better than stock, and doesn’t require paint matching. You forgot about that part. Again, I merely suggested this route, for simplicity and cost effectiveness. It’s all plug and play. After more than 5 years, my amp is still going strong! One and done! I’m not disagreeing with you, in anyway. I’m just looking at this from a novices point of view. He can always upgrade the speakers later.
