Harley headphone adapter
#21
Well, Ended up making an adapter. Fits into the front DIN. Carplay works, and I can listen to everything, including prompts for navigation. What I cannot do is talk into the mic. AS soon as I press my mic button on the earbuds the carplay gets knocked off. But I guess this is what I will have to deal with. it works and I can at least listen and have the carplay. This was wired with the TRRS plug. Pins 6&1 were tied together for ground. Pin 4 for MIC, Pin 5 for the left +, and Pin 3 for the right +.

[QUOTE=Hoyt 1911A1;20556346]I use this little doodad here. Small enough to put in the windshield pocket when not in use:
3.5MM INTERCOM SYSTEM AUDIO JACKET ADAPTER[/QUOTE
If I plug this into the 7 pin connector on my '16 RGU and attach a headset or earbuds to the 3.5mm port will my BOOM play music and NAV directions into the buds or headset??? I don't care if the music is in stereo or not.
Will the handlebar volume control still change the volume ?

ummm... this thread is about using a 3.5mm stereo headphone/earbud with the 7 pin DIN wired comms harness. The ACP and mic stuff was ancillary. Yes, you can use a standard 3.5mm TRS earbud or headset (without mic) on any wired Harley comms harness using one of the earlier mentioned adaptors.

On my 2010 (pre-Rushmore) the handlebar volume control works with anything I plug into the tank jack, whether it is a native DIN plug or going through that little Aerostitch adapter. I would imagine the newer units would have that same functionality.

Well I risked it and bought a DooDad that arrived yesterday. I just tried it out and it works as I hoped. I get Music and Nav Prompts through corded headphones. Plus the handlebar volume switch functions as well.
I was wondering how one device could "Adapts any 5, 7 or 8 pin motorcycle intercom system" Thought maybe I'd have to choose the number of pins I wanted at checkout. Once I saw it, it was easy to see why. The Doodad only has 5 pins, but connected fine to my 7 pin HD.
Next will be to buy a set of corded headphones that I can mount in a helmet and give it all some road testing if it ever warms up or quits raining, but I am optimistic about all.
