2014 Max volume after GZ 6.5 speakers , BT 355 and SD 800.4
Ok this may sound stupid but been reading a lot and asking questions here. ( thanks for the advice so far)
I have read about setting the amp up based on 3/4 volume of the head unit. Does this mean after installing the new system I can only use 3/4 volume on the head unit with damaging the new system?
on stock system I would routinely run max volume at highway speeds. (Maybe that’s why I blew my left speaker lol)

Yes, that's probably how you killed your speaker.
Head units have a point where the signal becomes distorted. This is typically at that 3/4 point. If you are tuning your amp at 3/4 volume, that becomes your new max volume. When adding an amp you increase the signal and power to the speakers. This increase also includes amplifying the distortion. Distortion is your enemy.

I would probably lean towards not running it at 3/4 for extended periods. I find that one notch over 1/2 is plenty loud with the GZ's at @ 275w to 300w. Sure let it rip once in a while for short periods, but for the sake of your speakers and ears, a little restraint never hurts. That also helps to take into account any source material that's a little hot. My .02 fwiw.

Just Installed the same speakers and amp today. I set my max volume at 36 out of 50. So 33 volts or roughly 275 watts on the meter at 36 volume. Haven't ridden it yet, but after some head unit tuning(still not finished) sitting in the garage at volume 25 it is SUPER loud. i don't think i'll ever get close to the set max LOL
