Default 6.5 speakers in your pak pods

Im replacing the stock tour pak speakers with HAT 6.5 speakers. V- Twin audio sells adapters for this, they also sell a vent kits that opens up the back of the tour pak where the pods attach to get more bass out of the bigger speakers. My question is has anybody done this? I just wanted to know if it actually works before I go cutting holes in my tour pak.

Just drill out a hole pattern in the appropriate area and u won't need a special kit.

Tailwind, yes I don’t have a problem with that I just wanted to know if it actually gave you some bass before I went and drilled holes in my tour pak

Depends on the 6.5 ur using as they all move a lil different bit of air but I have yet to find a 6.5 that didn't benefit from a lil more air in that very small pod.

Your TP has sealed pods? Interesting, mine are vented into the TP from the factory. TBH it seems like a lot of the bass goes back into the TP...at least it really sounds like that when I open the lid. Otherwise, it's hard to tell what advantage there is but I'd agree with T.

Generally speaking, I think that ported enclosures give louder, "boomy" low frequencies while sealed are more accurate. FWIW I've got HAT 6.5 coax in my TP pods with 1/2" adaptors

What year? My 20 already has vents from stock TP from the pods. As for Vtwin adapters, I used them as well. Nice fit, but the grills were a pain to get inserted. I"m running 6.5" Black basket GZ's. Had to clock them a bit to fit.

it’s a 13 and they’re not vented into the TP

Fwiw - I did the venting with the fancy Harley Kit they had for the 2006-2013 a few years ago, and I thought I lost low end. Sounds great when you are in the lot, and you open the TP, but once it was closed, it seems it was worse off. Just my worthless feedback, fwiw.

Interested to hear more about this as I just pulled tour pak pods off to sell them, but I can get some 6.5" or maybe 8" mid-bass in there I might reconsider.

I also have an extra Diamond amp to drive them laying around collecting dust.....
