Default 2021 Boom Audio - Do they make a front fairing external microphone?,

Just took delivery of my 2021 Street Glide FLHX a month ago.

I can't answer incoming phone calls or use the voice commands to the Boom audio system! Why would Harley give you these options and not include a simple fairing or tank mic?

Not a big fan of wearing headsets or helmet mounting one.

Any recommendations are appriciated

Well, you're not riding in a car where hands free calling works well because your isolated from wind and exhaust noise.

You're also riding abike......to me answering calls on a bike is 10x more dangerous than a car. I just don't want to do it.

And finally, probably the only option...or perhaps the best option is a headset if you're determined to take calls on a bike. You'd be able to hear and they'd hear you. But, I'm pretty sure you need the WHIM for any of that, and your Street glide doesn't come with it AFAIK.

I had the same question. I am waiting for delivery of HD Rider headset connector kit p/n 69200869. This plugs into the back of the Boom GTS and will give you the ability I am told to plug in a wired mic or headset. I ordered a Freedom Mic off ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/274178042294 that I will connect to the harness. Mounting option are up to you. I'll let you know how it works when i get the connector kit from HD. Pretty lame that there is no internal mic on the Boom Box.

I have this all hooked up and it works great. With my 2021 Street Glide it was a simple plug and play. No additional ground wire needed as shown in the directions. I fed the microphone through the space where the handlebars on the left side come through the fairing and zip tied it to the clutch cable down low and almost out of sight. The mic is directional so pointed towards me and it works well. I was riding today and was able to talk to my wife. She could hear me well enough she said. Nice addition.

Good deal!! I think the correct part number for the harness is 69200865. and not 69200869?

Yes that's right. Sorry about the typo.

FYI You can mount the DIN connector to the tank or through the inner fairing but I didn't want the Mic showing to that extent. I will never be connecting a headset so I wanted to keep the Mic as invisible as possible.

Does this work for the voice commands on Android Auto or Carplay as well?

I have not tried that yet but I will and report back. It does work for the GTS voice commands. Understand it's not going to work like a headset but the person on the other end can hear you. I really wanted it for the occasional call not to have long conversations while riding. I am happy with it.

Thanks, I am mostly interested in being able to jump into nav, and be able to find POI in new areas... food, gas, etc. I put the GTS in my '15 & have Android Auto, misjudged the mileage, needed to find a gas station & the google maps is VC only.
