Default Speaker lid waterproof covers question

A question for a good friend of mine:
He has a set of 6x9 speaker lids and got a pair of "SKN-IT" waterproof lid covers, but still gets water down in his bags.
He asked this question on a FB site and a few still recommend them and have no issues and guys love them from the response....

So he is not sure if they're just simply defective, or he want want to check another company making speaker lid covers.

And suggestions / recommendations or experience from the HD forum members on here?

Thanks!

No one uses any type of speaker lid covers to protect the speakers or mainly water entering inside their bags?

Search Jimmy covers, never used them but I see a few bike audio dealers sell them.

I had a set of skn-it covers on my 8" lids and could hose them with water with no issues. Gave them to a buddy of mine who has been caught in the rain without issue. Maybe not snug enough on his

Interesting!!!
Good info to know.
I'll tell him to reach out and contact them.

He may also want to stretch them out to the shape as best as possible on a make shift type of jig, and do a "leak test" in his driveway too.

They may be defect, but I've heard nothing but good about them.

Thanks!

He may want to look closer at his speaker choice or lid fitment. I have had RF and Polk marine speakers in my Hogtunes lids and have never had any water leakage in them at all, and I've been in more than a few downpours.

I have the RF retrofit lid speakers with no covers, and the lids don't leak even with power washing. IMHO, properly installed lid speakers shouldn't need covers.

He has Advanblack 6x9 speaker lids, fitted with MMATS (water treated), and all fits great along with a good seal on the weatherstripping. In fact when we installed them, the weather stripping almost fit too good and was hard to open.
But a day or two allowed them to take shape great & all is good with the fitment.
Really thinking he has a bad set of covers but the water test should prove that when he tries that next.

Definitely lids to bags fit are good.
Maybe the AdvanBlack holes in the grilles are larger than the RF set up?
I've got a similar set up on my RK using the SKNit covers and work well for me.
I'd rather Not take any chances of water getting in my bags either... I have my amp in my LH bag.... so personally I'm not taking any chances on mine either.
I'll have to take a better look when I meet up with him in the near future.
Just trying to get some forum members feedback to see if any other similar experiences.
Thanks!
