Default Signal Impedance Level

I have the Sony XAV-7000 HU and MMATs 701 Speakers and would like to hook them up in parallel.
It says in the Sony manual to change the OHMs setting in Advance to 2 Ohm instead of 4 Ohm. The problem is that option is not highlighted so I can change it.
Once I hook the speakers up that way will it just recognize it? Or can I still hook them up and not damage anything?

So what I want to do is the following:
Front Left will go to positive on both Front Speakers
Front Right will go to negative on both Front Speakers
Rear Right will go to my Subwoofer
Rear Left will go to my Subwoofer

Thanks,

You need to buy an amp. The amp non the HU will barely power a set of horns much less two mid range and a sub.

Thank you for your response. I didn't mention I also have the Stinger SPX700X4 Micro 4 Channel 700 Watt Ampifier.

If you have an amp in play then the HU doesn't dictate what ohms you can use. That's now the amps job.

What you're describing is parallel bridging to the amp and if your speakers are 4ohm, you cannot parallel them and bridge them to that amp. That amp is not 2ohm stable in bridged mode.

Ok thank you, I am not satisfied with the volume it sounds with this whole setup. I'm thinking I should be able to get more then I'm getting out of this head unit, amp and speakers.
I noticed on the manual that if I wanted louder sound I could run speakers parallel. I guess not.
Do you happen to have any suggestions?

Are you using the HU or the amp to set your crossovers?

Also, how did you set the gains on the amp?

Trying to remember, but I turned volume up just before it started to get noisy. Then I adjusted the gains on the amp. I believe?
