Default need new speakers

I have a 2017 SG, stock head unit, PEB300x2 amp and some rockford prime R165X3's that I picked up cheap at a swap meet. They were nice at first but now they just seem to be sucking. Keep hearing my buddy tell me hogtunes, I've heard they're really good he has a set but they're not amped. Need some recommendations. I like my music loud too cause I'm mostly on the highway.

Well hogtunes isn’t gonna be any better. You probably should be looking at the mmats 601cx and the stinger amp.

It’s a popular 2 speaker set up. If it’s all the person is looking to do.

I will assume the amp you have is a RF pbr 300x2 which is 4 ohm stable so if that is your amp you can get any 4 ohm speaker. Keep in mind that amp will run 100w per channel. As others have mentioned, you might want to upgrade that amp as it will get loud but very poor sq as you can fry an egg on it after it runs a bit. The reason some suggested the stinger and mmats is that combo is the best bang for the buck with solid sq. If you are determined to keep that antiquated amp then don’t buy good speakers as they will not sound good and won’t live up to their potential.

If like you say you like it loud and you’re on the highway a lot.
Do yourself a favour a update the amp and get some solid speakers. What was suggested is a great budget system that will serve you well and easily under $500 . You won’t be disappointed. What will disappoint you is hooking up some decent speakers to that sad pbr amp.
lots of knowledge here that have been down this road. Heed their advice.

I have re read you original text. How do you have the hu wired to the amp? Do you have a line levelers in the mix? Did you have the hu flashed? If not then it doesn’t matter what Speakers you put in as over time they will blow too from the drastic eq out of the stock hu.

I have the RF wiring kit, and had the head unit flashed with the techno research tuner at one of the audio shops near me.
