I am in the market for a new single-DIN head unit for my 2012 Roadglide as the Sony MEX-M100BT crapped out on me.
That was replaced with a Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS that I had. Although the Pioneer is working well I cannot see the screen for anything.
My Audio System consists of two SD 800.4 EVO amps, one SD 1200.1 EVO Amp a DD Audio DSI-2, MMats PA601cx in the Upper, PRV 6MR500's in the Lowers, MMats PA690.4cx in the Lids and Faital 10RS350's in The Bags. I have also added an AntiGravity ATX-30 Lithium-Ion Battery.
I've been searching the good old interwebs as well as Our Great Audio Section until my head spins, LOL!!!
I looked at the Aquatic AQ-MP-5UBT-HS, the Rockford PMX HD9813 and the Kenwood eXceleron Series and I keep coming back to the KDC-X998 which is highly regarded here.
If anyone has any good suggestions I am willing to listen.

I just installed the Kenwood KDC-X704 in mine. Love it so far. The 998 is a great HU as well.

That KDC-X704 has an impressive FM tuner in it at 7.2 dbf sensitivity. If there were any HD radio stations around these parts I would be tempted to try one in one of my trucks but a friend of mine up the road that has an HD unit says he can only pick up one station.

 

how is the display in the sun ?

 

It has a multi colored screen and it also has a white screen with black background. Does really well.

Do you know if the 998 has the same features?
I was looking for two USB ports one in front and one in the back as the 998 has but I'm not sure about the 704.
The 704 has 5V RCA pre-outs and the 998 has 4V so I am up in the air between the KDC-X998 and the KDC-X704.

The 998 is in the process of being discontinued, my rep told me, the 704 has the features that you have mentioned and is a great unit. I have them both. I removed the 704 from the bike because i was having bluetooth connectivity issues. I never did pin down exactly what the issue was. I put the 998 in it's place and all has been good. Gonna put the 704 in one of my cars. My connectivity issues could/might be a wierd issue with my older bike, so i wouldn't let My issue scare you off the unit.
