Which Single DIN Headunit and why, thanks.

The 998 is in the process of being discontinued, my rep told me, the 704 has the features that you have mentioned and is a great unit. I have them both. I removed the 704 from the bike because i was having bluetooth connectivity issues. I never did pin down exactly what the issue was. I put the 998 in it's place and all has been good. Gonna put the 704 in one of my cars. My connectivity issues could/might be a wierd issue with my older bike, so i wouldn't let My issue scare you off the unit.

So, after all the investigating, I decided to go with the Kenwood KDC-X704 and I'm glad that I did.
Although there were two things I did not care for, (1. No rear USB and 2. Doesn't recognize iPod Classic), they weren't a deal-breaker.
It's hard to see the screen in daylight but that's just the angle of the head unit in a Roadglide fairing, not the head unit itself.
Since installation, I have been playing music from my iPhone 11 pro, wired to the USB, and it sounds great. It can play through Bluetooth as well.
Thanks to all that replied, I appreciate the input.

Hopefully posting a month after the last post doesn't count as thread necromancy.

I have enjoyed a couple of Sony head units in my trucks. They typically have good tuners and most of the features that folks are looking for. A lot of them support their SongPal app you can put on your phone which makes setting them up and tuning them a lot easier than having to dig through the controls.
Crutchfield generally lists all the specs of them so you can pick and choose the options you want (preamp voltage, tuner sensitivity, etc.). I remember that they make one or two that have LCD readouts instead of LED, which means black text on a white or gray background that is easier to read in sunlight.

A friend recently purchased a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X304 from Crutchfield for $120 and loves it. I have the KDC-303 and have been very happy with it.

The only Kenwood that shows in stock for me at Crutchfield (filter on Kenwood, in-stock, 2013 FLHX) is the KDC-168U. I did see a couple KMM-x704 in stock at Amazon (from a 3rd party vendor), and ordered it along with the PAC HDK001X and SXV300v1, so hopefully this works out. It was a really tough decision between that and the Fathead inner fairing kit with the Sony double-DIN (for an extra $1k plus 6.5" speakers).
