question (setting gain): using phone for tone signal

first thing - the head unit (stock GT) volume is set to minus 5 bubbles from max

using an iPhone for the tone signal (DD Audio app-1K) - where should the volume on the phone be set?

I always suggest 1 notch from full on iPhone.

I personally never use a Phone Bluetooth or any type of streaming media to set gains. The reason for that is, you can’t guarantee the same volume all the time. I downloaded a 1K frequency to a memory stick and use that. That way I have consistent volume for each of the amps when I set the gains.
