Question Rockford Fosgate TMS69BL14/ CVO 5x7 Lids

I've a 2018 CVO Street Glide and I am currently exploring audio upgrade / replacement options. Does anyone have experience with the Rockford Fosgate TMS69BL14 in a CVO? RF says it *may not work" with CVO power locks. I'm assuming this means I may have to get creative to get it all to work together.

Appreciate any sharing of experience and advice - thanks!

If you have a CVO then you should have speakers and the lids now. If you wanna upgrade to six by nines then look into American hard bag or adapters. They’re not cheap but they do provide the best conversion to six by nines.

Than any 6x9 bag setup won't work out well for you. They eat up a decent amount of space unfortunately.

Yep, understood. I am willing to give a little for a 6x9. The basket on RF 6x9 w/ neo magnet is not especially deep and the TMS69BL14 kit overall appears to be a nice, clean install with minimal impact to the bag. I am also pulling the amp out of the bag which gives me more usable space so the trade-off is worth it.

My concern is with the power-lock operability.

I did take a look at the American Hardbag adapters - they appear to be a quality kit and they work with the power-locking mechanism but they sit much deeper in the bag. They also squeeze the 6x9 output through the 5x7 opening - I've no problem opening up the lid to properly accommodate the 6x9.

The bottom mount will not fit with the auto lock actuator, you would have to notch out the side where the actuator sits. It can be done, but you will need patience to not cut too much. The bigger issue is the cutting of the lid, RF and CVO grilles are not exactly the same size, so you can have seal issues as well.

Thanks - I have the kit in my hands now and I can see the RF grill and speaker cut-out is actually a bit smaller than the factory 5x7 opening. This won’t work with the factory lids.

i dont know about the auto-locking mechanism, but i just used a set of adapters for HD lids from VTwin Audio. i really like how strong they are, but like i said, i don't know if the auto-lock gets in the way, check out their site and or give them a call. i just did a 2020 StreetGlide Special and they worked out very nice. of course I'm using a different speaker, but thats another story.

Thanks - was originally hoping to avoid the adapter route, but I will be giving the V-Twin audio and American Hardbag adapters a look-see...
