Default Apple Carplay in Tourpak and USB Splitter

So, here is what I tried, and somewhat got to work. I want to use the Apple CarPlay but Id like to extend the USB into the Tourpak. Then the phone is secure and wiring is cleaner, since they aren't flapping around loose. I also wanted to add a splitter directly from the back of the radio to keep the USB on the upper fairing. Ive been using a 16gb flash drive with tunes, but having that Carplay option is appealing.

After running a 9m USB under the tank, and putting the splitter in, all of the USB connections would work, but NOT apple carplay. My dealer flashed the radio to enable Whim, and is works if plugged direct to the USB, but not with the 9m cord and not with the splitter. I used all USB 3.0 cables from Amazon. Is there a reason why the splitter will not allow Carplay to work? Is it a power issue? Anyone else try something like this?

FWIW, Apple says the connection must be direct to the head unit. I.e. no hubs

yep Carplay has a ton of data going back and forth through that usb. It typically dosent work with extensions, hubs, splitters

What if you just extend to the back and use car play in the secured area and unplug and plug in you memory stick in the back would that work cause my phone doesn't fit in the slot and I wanted to do the same thing.

thats what I did, but I actually ran two cables. One usb (for a flash drive) and one lightning plug ( for my iPhone). Then I have all 3 in the original usb cubby in the fairing. I’ll make the switches there if needed. Mostly it’ll be on the phone, but I do have a large flash drive with music to use.

best of both worlds. Like what was mentioned though, it cannot be split...unfortunately. I thought it was a good idea
