if it was me, i would get a dsp, my fav is the DD Dsi2, get a set of SV165's, or if you're up for some fab work, PRV 6MR500 Neo4''s and put that in your lowers, get another set of mmats pa601.4cx's and spacers for the tp pods, a new amp to drive the front, use the NV for the rears, i would use the SD800.4 EvoX for the front. tune it up and see how you like it. better quality amp and better quality speakers in the lowers with proper tuning works wonders. get the front dialed in as best as you can before you move on to a decision about the rears, still keeping an overall sound/strategy in mind. But first things first, get the front the best you can with what money you are willing to spend.
the amps you have are just so-so for power AND sound, the dsp allows for proper tuning, without guesswork on crossover settings. I run PA601.4cx's as low as 80hz with a SD800.4 running them and i think they sound very good in the tp pod.
just my 2 bits.
if you wanted to go full on PA style, with bags stuff too, then it starts to open up more, but the money goes up as well.

Can you link which 800.4 you're referring to. There's two or three that pop up. And would you run each speaker to its own Channel? Every amp I have shows better 4ohm rms values than the SDs. Am I looking at stuff incorrectly?

Any of them. Rms does not equate to sound quality or efficiency. The amps that you have are commonly referred to as " budget" amps. Maybe time to step that up some. Yes each speaker on it's own channel.

So you're recommending the SV165's in the lowers, without tweeters or horns, just to provide some lower range? This is an idea I've been contemplating - especially with the G2's or MMATS in the fairing providing loud higher frequencies. Would that give you a relatively full sound at speed (no, I don't expect thumping bass)? The SV'd look like they are rated 100Hz and up, which isn't much diff from the MMATS and G2's. Do they really provide that munch better lower frequencies?

Good questions. Interested to see response to this as well

I installed prv 6mb250-ndy-4 speakers in my lowers with a little poly in them .I'm putting them in my fairing also i will just use the MB QUART coponent tweeters with the PRV'S.
just spray water seal on the paper cone highway riding is not a problem to hear the music. These are the closest 125 RMS rating to the taramp 136 RMS @4 ohms x 4 and 200 RMS

@ 2 ohms for the 4 MB QUART 6x9 in the bags then the horn tweets in bags i still have 2 channels free on the other taramp 800x4 maybe i'll put the speaker pods back on touring pack.

+1 on adding lowers GL. That's sound you ain't getting cause they ain't there yet. Also I would add a DSP. It makes tuning much more accurate. I get decent mid bass out of a set of cheap (120 shipped) Mmats PA-601 PA speakers in my lowers with a basic tune on my DSP.

I would love to upgrade those speakers some day but can't say I am really disappointed with them now especially considering they were marine treated.

If money ever frees up I'll start asking around as to what would be some upgrade options for the speakers I have but my DSP has made those cheap speakers sound halfway decent.

P.S. I understand your feelings on the PN4 to Stinger swap. You went from 140 watts a channel to 100. I know not all watts are created equal but several folks have tried the Stinger only to find it a little on the weak side unless they bridge it. I've got nothing against the Stinger, I just have found on my setup that 100 watts per channel wasn't enough.
