I was told by @Toner123 this weekend that you could put the new GTS in a pre 2019 bike one of three ways:
1) Install the Soundz Interface and keep it in the bike. The interface makes the GTS think it’s in a 2019 bike - $450 this is what I did a few months ago before the recent software updates
2) Use the Soundz Interface to install the GTS, then update the software and you can remove the Soundz Interface. I haven’t tried updating and removing the Soundz interface but I’m going to.
3) Install the GTS in a 2019-2020 bike, perform the software update, then install in the pre 2019 bike.

If I update mine and it works I’ll let you guys know. I think I’m selling the GTS anyway in order to fit more amps in my fairing... probably a dumb decision but won’t be my first bad one. Anyway, if it works in my 2018 without the Soundz Interface after I update the GTS maybe I’ll loan out the Soundz Interface to anyone looking to by a GTS for a pre 2019 bike. Then you can plug it up, the Soundz Interface will make it work, then you do the software update and unplug the Soundz Interface and send it back to me.

Clarification
I installed it in my 2015 AFTER PLUGGING INTO A 2019 to do the update and it DID NOT HAVE A EFFECT! It only worked after the Soundz harness only.
Also did buy the Techno research unit to add it to the vin of the bike but no dice. Had remote tech with them and all. It won’t work without Soundz harness. GTS cost me 600. Soundz unit plus techno research unit to do my own updates. Still less than a new unit.

I should know for sure by the middle-end of this week. I have the Sony 7000 and a few new amps on the way. I’m almost certain that the amps won’t all fit, and I’d rather change the head unit then mount an amp in my saddlebag. PM me toward the end of the week and I’ll let you know where I’m at.
