I installed it in my 2015 AFTER PLUGGING INTO A 2019 to do the update and it DID NOT HAVE A EFFECT! It only worked after the Soundz harness only.
Also did buy the Techno research unit to add it to the vin of the bike but no dice. Had remote tech with them and all. It won’t work without Soundz harness. GTS cost me 600. Soundz unit plus techno research unit to do my own updates. Still less than a new unit.

Not sure if i am understanding correctly. If you did the update and it is not working, requiring the soundz module to work, you missed a step. Make sure you clear the preset calibration.

Got the updated usb cable and installed it. Also got the vin number off of the bike the radio came out of. Still no luck. Anybody got an answer. Hate to have a radio sitting there collecting dust.

it needs to be updated while its plugged into a 19 or newer bike, did the dealer do that? I haven't hear that it's possible to update it any other way.

You are exactly right. I did a GTS upgrade on my 2018 Ultra. The dealer installed the unit. After install they discovered they could not update the software. They took it back out of my bike, brought a 2020 bike in, took the boombox out of it, put mine in, then did the upgrade and then put the GTS unit back into my bike! Now, all is well. BTW, I love the new GTS boombox, glad I did the upgrade.
Just updated to a GTS on my 2016 limited not the A version. Bought it used, plugged it in and got the incompatible warning. Found a "Host" bike connected the radio to it and updated to the new software M21.20.22.00 did the pre calibration reset then plugged it in to my bike and worked fine. I have the Rockford Fosgate HD14U-Stage 2 installed. I have a single license techno research programmer but it wouldn't flash the radio because the heading retains the VIN from the original bike. I emailed techno research and they helped me out with another license to flash the radio. Flashed radio and enabled WHIM but I don't have the module, and carplay works.
I'm getting conflicting info on this radio. Will it work in a 2017 Tri Glide Ultra? If I put my bike in when doing a part search is says it does not work. But the text for what bikes if fits clearly states it fits Also fits '14-'18 FLHTCUTG, models with separate purchase of USB Connector P/N 69200031A. So does it work in my 2017 Tri Glide? And with Car Play will the Waze app work.
