Default CVO/iPod

Hello all,

Just picked up a used 2013 Ultra Classic CVO. Purchased from a dealership, so you know I was well informed about all the accessories.. lol.

With that said, while playing with the factory radio, I discovered a "source" for music from an iPod. Got to looking around on the bike and found a zipper pouch (see pic) in the right side saddlebag, when I opened it, I found what I believe is a 30 pin connector for an iPod. see pic.

So, having never owned an iPod, I have a few questions. Which iPods will fit this connection and will this single connection both allow me access to the music and power the iPod? If it doesn't power it, what the beat way to get power to it?

That connects to a iPod from the pre lightning connector which is the smaller new version. Yes it will keep iPod charged as well allow you to use thumb controls to scroll through menus and play lists, genres, and artist.

I have that same bike. Originally the ipod came with the bike.....A Nano. If you do acquire an ipod or an iPhone you need to get signed up with iTunes so that you can sync the device frequently. I also completely agree with the earlier posts as well.

Used on eBAY! I had a 5th Gen Nano with a 30 pin connector I stuck on my bike basically permanently. Just double check the connector.

Thank you all for the info. I was able to pick up a used 4GB nano to use as a test, everything worked. But I will need a bigger one to get all my music on there. Like the idea of using an adapter and getting more space. I'll give that a try.

The adaptor that Fireball Jack posted may be the way to go.
Do not get the ipod Classic like these.

They have moving parts inside and will not hold up to the vibrations going down the road and will eventually fail.
The iPods without screen are basically glorified flash drives and have no moving parts. You may even try this...
https://www.ebay.com/i/223205557710?...8aAgYYEALw_wcB

It may allow you to use a flash drive or Android.

I have no experience with either adaptor.
I have used the Classic and it did eventually fail.
