Speaker pairing advice for 2015 RGS w/BT 4180, LL's & boom 6.5 GT
Hey all,
It's been quite a while since I've been on the audio forums - and wow how the times have changed! When I was looking, BT was still a front runner for amps, but speakers, well, not so much, even at that time.
But, I took the Biketronics plunge anyway and for the most part, I've been fairly happy with the exception of only running the two speakers as the biketronics Titan speakers are a bit harsh. I knew this going in, despite a few warnings, and I've been ok with it. However, I've gotten the bug this year to try to warm up my speaker sound. I'm running the BT4180 with the BT line levelers and the titan 2 6.5" coaxials (the BT kit for road glides). I actually think one of the speakers is blown as I'm getting some fuzzy sound out of it - so I see it as an opportune time to replace them and put them on the shelf for use in a tourpak later, if I decide to add one. I'll determine if the one is blown at some point, but not too concerned about it right now. I just want to improve the sound I'm getting with new speakers.
Without changing the amp and still using the BT line levelers - is the mmats 6.5" coaxial my best bet how about mmats components? At one point I was considering a DD Audio component setup, but there doesn't seem to be much fanfare for those lately. What other speakers should I be considering?
Based on my light reading, I know I have, and am, continuing to put myself in a bit of a box by keeping the BT amp & LL's, but I'm not ready to take the jump to really chase the "unicorn" as many on here have. I just want a warmer sound that's clear, loud, and will best fit with the amp & LL's that I have.
Suggestions? Thoughts?
TIA!

For a drop in speaker, I don't think it gets better than the Mmat 601.cx.

I am sure you can find them for a little less, but again for just dropping a speaker in and letting it run, you can't go wrong.

I was hoping you two would chime in, you both seem to have a really good handle on what's working these days. The mmats coax is getting the resounding thumbs up on many threads, any concern about using the current (set up by BT) gain settings on my BT LL's with the 100W RMS - 150 program (peak?) vs. the titan's, which have an RMS of 100w but 200w peak?
If I was dead-set on going component speakers, what are your top choices there, or would I be hamstringing myself because of the inability to set channel frequency filters?

And for $110/speaker, it honestly seems pretty hard to go wrong!
