Road glide amp speaker setup. The usual
I love my 2019 Road Glide but not its audio. Looking for advise on 2 speaker system I can install myself (I never plan to have more than 2 speakers) . I'm good with tools, been riding for many years. Looking for something I can hear at 80 mph with a helmet. Maybe $700 to $750 all in amp, speakers, line lev, wire kit etc. This is a great forum and looking forward to your advise.
Need better sound for this new bike

Installing yourself, you can def be all in for 750. I think the consensus here is the mmats 601cx speakers in the fairing and the nvx amp. If youre sure youd never do more than 2 speakers, the you can get the 2 channel amp. but not much price difference in that and the 4 channel amp in case you ever do want to add another set.....and you will lol....
Also the stinger spx 700 is a great 4 channel amp for less than 300 bucks.
You'll need to either cut or heat and reshape your speaker pods to get the mmats to drop in. No big deal though.

Thanks for the info. A couple of things I forgot. I listen to the radio music and even talk radio on long trips. I really want the radio to get good reception. Also, if I increased budget would there be speakers that would not require a reshape to speaker pods. Don't really want to do that on a brand new bike. And one final thing, on those 601cx speakers, do they need the optional wet protection given they have some paper in them?

Not sure about the nvx amp, but for me the stinger amp doesn't interfere with my fm reception. I had an soundstream that killed every bit of my radio signals. When I switched to the stiner, I got my fm signal back. Where you live and FM signal has some bearing on that.
Also cant comment on other speakers fitting in your pods. But honestly, for the money it hard to beat them. And cutting the pods are no big deal.
They also can be bought with a weather treatment option, but you can also spray speakers with some camp dry from walmart.

Thanks for sending the pic.
Fitting things seems to be an issue when trying to get un canned systems. I looked at the JM 400 (which is supposed to be a great amp bridged for 2 speakers) You have to mod the amp to get it to fit in post 14 road glide.
I think cutting on my bike like that would require a pint of Jack.
I'm getting pushed into Rockford Foss Kit, or MPAK or Biketronics just to get things to fit. Its all about the Benjamin's I'm afraid.

I wouldn't worry about cutting the speaker pods. Youll never see it and it wont affect resale if that's what your thinking. The pa601cx are awesome speakers and you will not be disappointed with them.
Ive heard the biketronics stuff, sinister, Rockford, J&M and all the other "plug and play" speaker setups there are, my mmats beat them all IMO. can always throw some dynamat or something over the hole of the pod. As for the water treatment, for an extra 10 bucks I did. Nothing better than a little piece of mind.
