If running stock head unit, upgrade it to a sony mex 100bt as that has 5v preouts for better SQ. A good amp is next. If you EVER plan on adding lowers or rear lid speakers then buy a good 4 channel amp to start with and be done with an amp. A cv b-52 is only a 2 channel amp and wont provide any future expansion. A vadm4 is a solid little amp but not powerful enough for a 4 channel setup. Spend a bit more for a stinger or mmats 4110 to begin with and you wont need to upgrade the amp later on. WDX gen 2 or mmats pa601cx speakers with either amp mentioned above will provide a solid warm sound that gets loud. Spend a bit more to begin with and no need to upgrade later. Nothing wrong with what has been suggested but as stated, this stuff can get addicting real fast and I have seen guys upgrading amps left and right. In my experience, just get the amp and head unit needed for future to begin with and be done.
I do in fact have an after market head unit. It is a sony DSX-S310BTX. I am in the process of setting up returns for my hogtunes stuff. I already have the amp mounted in my bike so I will probably get rid of it in the classifieds. I was messing with the EQ for a good while and it gets fairly loud but bass is pretty much non-existent unless I turn it up, but then I get the popping and distortion. I will take your guys’s info into consideration and begin looking now. Thanks for all the help.

You just wont get bass from 6.5's regardless of how you tune or brand of speaker. The problem is that depending on what hogtunes amp you currently are using, it may not have any controllable gains on it and hence at higher volumes it will distort.

That's solid info there. I wish I could have bought a decent amp right off the start. Unfortunately, budget restraints held me back along the way, but I've slowly worked my way up to the 3 amps I have now, lol. Once you get tunes rocking in the bike, you will want more.

The amps I recommended will get you through a 2 speaker system, but 4 or 6 speakers is always better than 2, lol. Grab a Stinger or Mmats 4110 right off the start, and then your ready for lowers or speaker lids when you decide to add a little more. I am really glad I added lowers, but you need the right speaker in there to hear them.

Rock on and play it LOUD!!!!
