Stinger will fit on stock amp tray.

It will fit. A friend put a Stinger in his 2015 sgs with the stock tray. He did use a Biketronics amp plate though.

Is the additional riser piece a necessity? I know the tray has a lot of real estate, but Im starting to wonder if I have enough room. Without the riser, I think it would free up a couple of inches.

The largest amps that I have had on my JM tray are the SD1200 and also the Hertz HDP4. Thus should give you an idea about the footprint ur working with.

And no, the riser IMHO isn't necessary.

Maybe post up a list of the items ur expecting to fit under the hood of ur Rushmore batwing and folks will have a better chance at offering assistance. Few different threads going so it can be hard to keep up, or try and keep this in one thread.
