Default Swapping factory head unit for.....? Questions inside

Considering swapping out my head unit but have a lot of questions. Havent decided on one, but see that most run Sony AX 5000. My local shop even recommended it but when I asked them if its water proof or resistant they answered yes so........ I travel on this bike so I get caught in the rain, or it will get wet at events, in parking lots, etc.I did buy a cover for it, its some crazy ugly block of plastic, and its a last resort kinda deal.

What I'd really like in a head unit- double din, waterproof, GPS, or be able to accept bluetooth that will allow it to mirror my phone, or do something similar. Dont care about FM.

1) What do I gain, and what do I lose by doing this?
2) Is there even a double din thats marine grade or similar and will give me what I want?
3) that will play nice with my Arc amp and speakers.
4) Currently I am running a thumb drive with music on it. The new head unit needs to play nice with that too.

I do have a set of lids (Arc 692s) standing by with a JL 280/4 to power them if needed.

Find the HU that fits all ur functionality needs and have it built for ur sled w waterproof install kit.
It may cost a bit more but if u have certain personal parameters then pay the few extra bucks for exactly what u want vs what is trending.

It sounds as though you might want to keep the Boom radio if you're still on a '15 RGS. Considering you don't have big plans for a large audio build. What are you trying to gain by going aftermarket?
Never mind I see you want CarPlay/Android Auto. If you want Car Play some venders claim to be able to adapt the new Boom GTS to pre '19 Rushmores. Even with the flaws of the H-D radio it's still off the shelf water resistant.

I didn't even know this was possible. Got any suggestions on someone or some company that does it?

Realistically, I'm looking for better sound quality. I'm probably expecting too much from bike audio. Ive gone through a few amps and speakers looking for the unicorn, I guess. I get way less lows than Id expect running all the Arc stuff. I'm wondering if the installer actually hooked everything up correctly? I might try that new Rockford Flash and see if it helps. Because when I adjust the base and treble, there's not a whole lot of difference, especially in the bass.
