Default Any ideas for better audio for this aftermarket RK detachable fairing?

Hey all,

I have a 2003 RK with a detachable fairing. Unfortunately, the fairing isn't one of the bigger name brands, and I can't identify the manufacturer. It was put on at a Harley dealer for the previous owner.

The head unit is nothing fancy, but it's ok. I could look at head units, but at a minimum I'd like to consider an amp and speakers, or amplified speakers, not sure what's out there. The 6x9s in the fairing are the kind that have to mount behind the fairing and they recommend the cloth cover over the front, which I'm not a fan of. I'd just as soon have a grill or no grill with a marine speaker, but I'm open for ideas.

Mmats PA690.4cx's in the speaker holes in the faring, Mmats Pa 601.4cx's in the lowers and a Mmats Md4110 or the stinger 700.4 amp wil rock that thing pretty well. if you dont have room in the fairing for the amp, you could mount it in a bag. Sony has a head unit that they advertise has an amp in it, but i dont think it would be strong enough, the MEX-XB1000BT, it's only 40 watts a channel.

if you mounted the amp in a bag, you could make quick connects for the fairing wiring and still keep the remove-able aspect of the fairing if you liked.

I would like to keep the fairing removable. Are you saying if I put an amp in the fairing, that prevents me from having a quick disconnect?

It would not prevent you from removing it. It would be much easier to make the speaker wires quick disconnect than the power/ground wires.

You an put amps in the faring and keep it removable, with quick disconnects. I have 2 amps in an aftermarket fairing on a Dyna and I can remove it in seconds.
