Want to shake things up a bit
Hi all and happy new year.
present system in a 10 ultra;
jvc h/u, ss pn4-1000, infinity 62.ii in fairing and Polk mm652 in lowers.
doesnt quite have the volume on the highway I’d hoped. Just noise.
have a set of mmats 601.”8” on the shelf.
would putting the mmats and a set of tweeters up front benefit me?
then either the Polks or kappas in the lowers?
was also considering the hertz hcx165 in the fairing and then ? In the lowers.
would like to stick with this amp for now if I can. Just looking for suggestions to reconfigure the fairing And lowers.
if mmats and tweeters is a consideration, which tweeters?
guidance greatly appreciated.

Weeboy I am running that same amp in my 2010 UC and have all the volume I want up front. I realize speakers can make a big difference but I wonder if the gains or output voltage of the head unit could be tweaked some. Also I am running 4 ohms speakers, I don't know if they will play cleaner than 2 ohms at high volume with that amp or not.
I am running Mmats in the lowers and noticed that I had to turn the gain on that channel up a tad because they were lower sensitivity than the Motos I have in the fairing. I think I had the gain on the Motos at about 10 o'clock and the gain on the Mmats in the lowers at a little past 12. I am just now in the process of swapping out the SS amp with an Arc Moto 600.4 and honestly can't tell much difference in volume so far. I mainly wanted the Arc to recover some space under the fairing and maybe get back some FM reception.
I don't know if any of this will help you or not but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case. I have been well pleased with that SS amp.
Also another thought I just had is how tall is your windshield? If you are getting a lot of wind blast that may be costing you some clarity and volume. A while back Bates clued me in on Long Ride shields. I got a 12" tall one and it made a noticeable difference over the 12" National Cycle shield I had.
Just my .02.

you would be better off using the PA601.4 4ohm speaker, the eight ohm is going to bleed more power off the amp. just something to think about. not saying that they wont work or sound good, just that the 4 ohm version would work better, maybe you can trade the 8's for the 4's in the for sale section.
