Default Lower Faring Pod speakers Limited 2008-2013

Looking into speakers for my lowers. My bike is a 2011 Limited. My setup is very good but lacks bass.Have a friend who has been looking into pods speakers. My amp has plenty of power. I can tie pods in series to either the fronts or rears. Which is better? And what speakers in the pods gets me best bang and bass for my buck? Current setup is Kappa 62.11 in the front. 62.xi in the rear. AMP M4-3000D And Kenwood X998 HU. Thanks

You can't run in series with just any speaker. Whether you are paralleling or putting them in series, the speakers you're putting together need to match in specs as close as possible. With that being said, splitting 140 watts per channel (what that amp actually puts out at 4ohms) between 4 speakers will be extremely disappointing.

Thanks. So how about a small second amp added for the pod speakers? Am I wanting to run bridged, series or parallel? Not opposed to a better amp as well?

Have you considered moving tourpack speakers to the lowers and just running the stock rears off the HU. That would put all of your sound in front of you. If you ride 2up more than 1up your rears are covered up anyway.
Of course you can add an amp to run the lowers but depending on the cost you may be better off changing your rears over to 4ohm and parallel them with another set of 4ohms in the lowers.

I ride one up mostly, wife has her own bike. I can't remember why I switch back to 2 ohm speakers. I just did that last year. I could switch again but I may give a year based on out lay for this. I am happy with my system. I just can't help but tinker. lol Thanks

Just my two cents but I would try putting all four Kappas up front in the upper and lower fairings powered by your existing amp. Then add a new set of 6 1/2’s and a new 4 channel amp of your choice in the tourpak. Use two of the new amps four channels to power the tourpak pods and save two for 6x9’s in the lids of you still want more bass at a later date. Also the Harley tour pack bass ports would really boost the bass of 6 1/2’s in the rear pods letting them breath more in those tiny enclosures. In the end, of course, most of your bass will be left behind you for your wife to enjoy on her bike, lol

If this amp is truly 1 ohm stable you could run 2 fairing and 2 lowers in parallel on channels 1 and 2 and your tp pods one each on 3 and 4, but if it were me i would be calling their tech services dept to make sure for sure that the amp can run at 1 ohm stable. it will be very cool if it does and I'd like to see a dyno run on it and hear the SQ. Let us know what tech support says about it being stable at 1 ohm.
marco

this amp seems like it's kinda similar to the way the brazilian amps are set up with the multiple ohm specs runnging so low,,,make sure that you CONFIRM!!!!

So another thought. As stated. Move all 4 Kappas to the front faring and lower faring. Now the HU has a sub output. What amp and what speakers would work well in the rear pods. Being used as a sub? Do I need to run a RCA to the rear? wiring is got me perplexed. I would definitely add an amp. Speaker wire already ran to the rear. Amp suggestions? Thanks
