Default CVO Infotainment Applicatiom question

Hi, I'm new to the Infotaiment scene and have a question or two about replacing one on a 2015 CVO. In my hunt for this replacement unit, do I have to find one out of another CVO or will one from a differnt year, different bike work? I am not too concerned about the CB radio application as I never used it. Or would one of the aftermarket units ie; Sony with CarPlay be a better route to go? Would just like to plug it in and have music & Navigation. Thank You for the advise!

Cost wise the Sony is the way to go, but u might find a used OEM one via the classified. The only big concern I have with the Sony is the waterproof factor. In my region we get more rain in a month than most folks get in a year.

As T said, there are used Boom head units for sale on the classifieds here often. They typically range in price from 7-850. It does not need to come from a CVO. The software start up screen is the only difference and that's changeable with a download.
