Default trouble shooting help

A buddies bike is randomly cutting out sound from all speakers. the bike has 3 amps, a DSR1, and 8 speakers with 4 tweeters. it happens at all different volume levels and seems completely random. He swapped the head unit out with no change. it also has a metra axxess module for handle bar controls. any help is greatly appreciated

Depending on how he has the amps wired and speakers in play, the setup and amps may be going into protect mode. If he has 2 ohm speakers inline with 4 ohm or trying to bridge 2 ohm speakers, that will cause an unstable setup for any amp. Let the forum know just what the setup consist of and how it is wired.

I fixed one awhile back that was doing that, I found that the plug on the DSR wasn't making good connection and the slightest vibration would make it lose connection. I have read threads where others had the same problem, and there solution was to use a small zip tie around the plug. I think that is one of the problems they are addressing with the new one they are working on.

i've been leaning towards the dsr1 as well. the fact that all 3 amps go quiet (including the horns) says to me its ahead of the amps. thats why he swapped the head unit out

As ND mentioned, check the dsp connection. That makes great since as the flow comes from the hu into the dsp then breaks to the amps. All sound is gone so it has to be lost before amp inputs. Also check and change rcas if in play

Maybe look at what he has wired to turn on the amps, could be a bad connection. Does he lose sound to all speakers for a couple seconds and then comes back on without having to do anything?

amps get remote from dsr1, dsr1 gets remote from the head unit i believe

Have read numerous posts with problems with the DSR1. I would stick with an ARC PSM or the new DD audio one
