Default Lower Fairing Speaker Selection

Beginning to do some background work for a little winter project.

I want to add speakers to my lower fairings.

My current set up is a DD D4 Amp bridged to WDX6Motos in the fairing on a 2015 SGS.

What would you recommend for speakers for the lowers? Will I need to upgrade the amp also?

Thanks for the help, as always!

i would choose a pa speaker for the lowers, either PRV or Mmatts, just my 2 cents, you could try to use your current amp, just unbridge it, the motos have a high enough sensitivity that they should still sound good. but a more powerful amp wouldn't hurt, try what you've got first and make the call.

I used AD Designs CX621s in my lowers. They are sort of like a midrange speaker that has a tweeter. You cross them at over 100 hz. I also have Motos in the fairing and they blend pretty good. However I also have speakers in the rear to compliment them. If you feel that you like the highs that the Motos produce then maybe the PA speakers the others have mentioned would be a better choice. I also forgot to mention that the ADs are water resistant out of the box.

You may have to grind the inside of the speaker hole in the lower with a sanding wheel to get the ADs to fit though. If the other guys know if the MMats or PRVs will drop right in without grinding the lowers then that may help you decide as well.

you can get the Mmats PA 601.4's marine treated from the factory, just for the record.

My Mmats 601.4's dropped right in my lower fairing speaker pods! there's plenty of depth on mine and the AD's would have absolutely no problem as they are even shallower than the Mmats or PRV's...... Note) My lower fairings and lower fairing speaker pods are HD units not aftermarket for the record!.....................

The issue with the ADs is not depth, but the basket hitting the outer edge of the hole when you try to drop them in. They changed the design a while back. Users have verified this with Fairing Factory and HD speaker boxes. It's not a big deal, just takes a while with a sanding wheel and a Dremel tool.
