Does a 5x7 produce a fuller sound than a 6.5 full range speaker?
I was out the last weekend riding and ran into a group and started talking to one of the guys that liked my system. I told him what I was running and he started to tell me about his RG system he was planning out. He told me he was going to put as many speaker into his fairing and lowers as he could fit and leave his bags for their traditional use. He said he was going to put 5x7s in the current speaker locations and with minimal modifications they would fit. He said, in his experience they produced a better, fuller sound. He then went on to say of removing the compartments in the fairing and mounting speakers in those and putting screening over top. He also talked about speakers facing inward around the steering neck as well but, at that point, he started to lose me with all the modifications he wanted to do.
Sounded like a LOT more modification than I would take on myself but, I told him if he ever gets it done, I would love to see it.
So I just was wondering, do 5x7s produce a fuller sound than a 6.5?

That sounds like strategies used on HD's about 4-5 years ago with the 13 and down RG's. A traditional 5x7 "may" have a more low end than your typical 6.5 coaxial but a 6.5 is a more accurate speaker and with the selection of high end 6.5 components and pro audio speakers the right 6.5 set up will surely be louder and better for bike purposes.

Thats why I came here and asked. I didnt think they did, but just wanted to confirm it with those that have listened to a bit more than I!
