Yes I did just that, tried to heat the wall but due to the plastic material which think is ABS little heat will not move it but high heat will disintegrate instead of molding it, tried that and ended up with very ugly uneven blotch of plastic and usually I am good with heating and forming different type of plastic. The spot where cut is needed is also very close to two mounting tabs, so I am afraid long exposure to heat might deform the mounting tabs making the pods unusable. Weighing out the difficulty and risk I think cutting a hole is a much saner and safer option than heating the wall.

The cut is not that big, you just have to mount the speaker upside down on the speaker hole to make sure your speaker lip does indeed fit perfectly on the hole, flip the speaker to normal orientation and mockup fit the speaker on the hole, you will then be able to identify where exactly the magnet hit the wall and make markings where to cut. I cut mine with dremel, very easy 5 minutes job to do the cut, it was about 5 x 3 square hole. I did not take any pictures when cutting but I can snap a few pictures of the finished job, I'll post it up in an hour.
