Apparently the boombox amp has crapped out. Is there a plug and play amp of higher quality to replace this oem pos ?? Like Kenwood...rather NOT have to splice wires if I don't have to.. Maybe someone has information on the wire diagrams also incase there is no plug and play. Thanks

If your BIL liked the way his system originally sounded, the easiest fix is to replace the bad amp with another Boom 2 amp. I don't know how much they are to buy new but there are some that hit the classifieds on this site.
If he was dissatisfied with that system, now would be a good time to replace with aftermarket. Lots of options available there. With that, nothing is "truly" plug n play, but not much to install. No cutting of factory wiring is required. The only extra wiring needed would be running power and ground to the battery from the fairing.
If thats the route he wants to go, plenty of guys here to help you get there.
