Default Running new TourPak speaker wires?

I have a 2009 Electra Glide Ultra Classic with a TourPak detach kit. I'm considering upgrading the audio system with an amp and speakers for the fairing & TP. I understand running new, heavier gauge speaker wires is recommended. The HD wires have a multi-pin connector under the seat... which comes in handing removing the TP. I would like to run heavier wires, but keep the factory plugs. I don't know how to change out the pins in the connector to the new wires... if that's possible. Or I could cut the factory wire close to the connector and solder/heatshrink the new heavier wires.

How are folks with the detachable TP running wires to the TP speakers? Thoughts?

Hey Bates, I was thinking of using something like that when I get around to installing my lids. Do you have links or photos to the tools needed for those sockets and pins? I can't remember if I have any or not.

Hey Bates looking at your latch there reminded me of something I wanted to ask on the forums but haven't gotten around to yet (I still have to get my lids painted).

The HogTunes lids do not have the metal tab covers on them like the factory lids do. The tabs appear to be glued on. To me it looks like the aftermarket lids would not latch securely without those metal tabs. Do you know if those metal tab covers can be purchased by themselves somewhere?

Thanks for the info so far.
