2017 SGS Audio UpgradeI know there’s a lot of discussion on this but I’m going crazy trying to dial it all in on picking a good set up. So if you had a 17 SGS and about 2K to play with! What would your audio set up be for a 4 speaker set up running off stock head unit. Fairing and lids? The stock sound isn’t all that bad. But with A stage one kit pipes, tuner and heavy breather I lose sound around 80mph. Ready set go lol

I just got rid of a 17 special....ran jl audio 600/6 under the fairing and ran prv 6.5 with a set of dd audio b3 horns where mirrors were and a set of speed by design twisted 8 lids with a set of 8s and another b3 horn
amp 350
prv 200
b3 horns 150
lids 350
Believe me its LOUD

Totally agree w that strategy / recommendation but would consider some additional product.

Hertz SV or Beyma in the fairing
DD VO B3 Horns in fairing
8" lids
Focal Sport amp or SD800 and ARC PSM
SD 250 amp for horns

Gonna have to bring some low mids from the lids to compliment the PAs and horns in the fairing so take ur time on that speak selection for that target freq range.

Depending on the color of your bike, you may not be able to get the paint needed for lids. If that is the case, the RF rear lid kit is a viable alternative.

Not worried about color matching I have a great painter. Just want a great 4 channel amp, great 6.5’s up front and great 6x9’s in the lids. I’ve heard great things about Biketronics and the customer service is amazing. I was leaning toward them.

Bike tronics does have great CS but in my opinion you can get better sounding setup.
As far as amps go:
JL xd series, Rf tm400x4ad, stinger psx 700x4, focal sport are some good sounding amps.
6.5 fairing:
hertz hcx, sony xs-gs 1621, infinity kappas, arc 602 motos, wdx motos are just a few.
6x9 speakers:
DD vo's, hertz mpx 690.3, sony xs-gs 6921's, cant recommend polks any more do to the heat problems and edx 69's.

These will provide a good sounding setup and any of those speakeers will sound good with any of those amps as I have run them all. There are amp/speaker combos that just don't sound good together and bt amps with certain speakers can sound tinny.

Just my thoughts as others may chime in.

Great info thank you. Hertz hcx and Infinity kappas definitely are spoken highly of. Arc motos get some thumbs up too but not as much as the other two.

With that level of budget you can swing MUCH higher than Infinity Kappas. Those are very budget sounding speakers. I'd consider some pro audio and horns, or something like the Beyma coax with a nice loud 6X9 in the lid that can fill out some low end. I'm partial to the DD VO 6X9's.

I didn't even look at the budget. That ups the game some. Most looking for upgrades are wanting more budget than expensive.
