If you want to save some coin for the time being you can go with a Bluetooth receiver like this:
I have one plugged into the aux input on the front of the stock HK head unit and it works quite well. No thumb control song skip or search function, but you can skip forward or back with buttons on the receiver. Instead of plugging into the HU with the included male to make adapter, use one of these:
Otherwise vibration can cause a the aux input to break solder connection inside the HU over time. Easy enough to resolder, but why go there if you don't have to. For under $30 you're in business with streaming or downloads from your phone. Add in a 12v charger and phone mount of your choice and your still under $100 with a weather proof factory HU and VERY minimal installation. of course if you want to upgrade to aftermarket you're welcome to do so. I did the above and have been quite happy with the results and put any additional money towards speakers and amplifiers. Just my 2 cents worth...

What's a good radio upgrade with bluetooth and handlebar controls for 2011 street glide
SONY MEX-M72BT W/ METRA 99-9600 HD INSTALL KIT PLUG AND PLAY BUNDLE | '99 -'13 HARLEY-DAVIDSON
If I were in your shoes I would seriously consider that one if money were tight. $239 ain't bad. I think the specs on the FM tuner are above average too if you like to listen to the radio.
If you want to keep weather resistance you could keep your stock head unit and add a Metra SaddleTramp bluetooth module to it. It is a fairly easy installation and will allow your handlebar controls to work with whatever app you have on your phone. You will see artist and track information as well.
