Default Back to pro audio

Well I've been fighting the 6x9 battle after I thought I conquered the fairing speakers and thought I was done until last week. Everything I tried just couldn't keep up with the JL 880s that are in the tour pak. I have HogTunes lids and all the 6x9s that I try, besides Polk MMs, hit the bag when opening and closing the lids. So I decided to go back to pro audio due to the high sensitivity and tried a new brand that I've heard of before, but never actually tried for myself. I finally found some pro audio that's waterproof for the lids and put Faital Pro6s in the fairing and the lids. It's definitely louder now and more balanced. I measured with my DB meter after setting it up and the fairing speakers are actually putting out a DB more than the rear sets. I went with a coax Faital Pro 6HX150 in the lids and Faital Pro PR122 mid in the fairing. The PR122s are extremely loud and need tamed down quite a bit on the upper frequency bands. The 6HX150s aren't quite as loud due to a lower sensitivity, but I'm able to keep the upper frequency bands up on their EQ to balance it out. Both sets of speakers are waterproof and only weight 2.8 lbs! The speakers in the lids do not come in contact with the bag which is a huge win for me too!!! I've tried a couple different Beymas before and a set of PRVs and these have a different sound to them. The Faitals definitely need a DSP to get sounding good and a little patience to go with it. I'll post a video this week with what I hope to be my final set up.

I like the sensitivity on those and never realized the cone was water repellent until now, but I really want to run a pair of 8 ohm speakers per side off my amp bridged. Thanks for the heads up, I have those Legend 1800s in my truck running off a Focal FDP 4.600 bridged and those things rock. Hertz definitely makes nice speakers

Hey Ron, I take it these Faital are a bi-amped co-ax, meaning the horn and midbass are on there own channels with no built in x-over. So are you using 4 channels just for the Faital co-ax's, or are they wired some other way? Looking Good Ron!

Thanks Mike! Yes they are bi-amped and I had them running a couple different ways. I ended up with them paralleled off 2 channels on the JL VX and the same up front for a front group and rear group. The speakers in the fairing were not close enough to the sensitivity on the coax's so I couldn't go with my initial configuration to have them paralleled 2 channels for the left and two for the right. I really like the speakers in the fairing and just bought another set of those for the lids. That will let me do my initial bridged left and right configuration while keeping it all stereo within the DSP.
