Default cheaper class D 4ch without fm reception issues

Looking for a 4ch amp around the 150-200$ mark to put in with a Pioneer avh-3400nex flip out radio. Not going crazy on the speakers, hence not needing a 600$ amp. My biggest concern is fm reception. It appears the Soundstream pn4.1000d has a lot of issues with this? Thats ideally the amp I want to get as well. What about the other SS amp. ST4.1200d? 100X4 at 4 ohms? I thought about the DB Drive NEO4 but it appears thats pretty low on power looking at the test done here. Any other suggestions? Thanks

My first suggestion would be to check the Unicorn store.

Sorry I couldn't resist. That seems to always be a trade off. The reason class D amps that do not interfere with FM reception are more expensive is because of shielding and advanced circuitry, which costs more money to produce so they cost more money to buy. I have a SS PN4.1000d and it did reduce my FM reception range by a good bit, but I live in a rural area. Whenever I am riding in or near a city I can pick up their radio stations pretty good, so if you live in town you still may be able to pick up several stations.

Also your Pioneer probably has a pretty good tuner anyhow so it will probably have an advantage over the stock head units as far as reception goes. For no more than the SS PN4.1000d costs if you don't get any better recommendations I would say give it a try and see how it goes, you may be happy with it.

Others like myself have regained some of the lost reception by getting some of the older steel whip antennas that Harley used up until 2008. When I switched to those antennas my reception was almost as good as before I added the SS amp.

The smart folks may have better info that's just a recap of my own experience.

my suggestion would be to save up a bit more and buy one of the better amps, buyers remorse really sucks, especially when it's not really a whole lot more. if you jump up to the 300-350 range not only do you get the better reception, there is a noticeable increase in sound quality and versatility.

The Rockford Fosgate TM400X4ad comes highly recommended by some of the smart folks as having good sound without trashing FM. They say the controls and options are above average. I am thinking of getting one myself when I can figure out how to split off my rear pods from my current amp.

I have the SS PN4.1000d running the batwing speakers on the front channel and four AD 6.5s on the rear channel (lowers and rear pods). This is a great setup in that I can drive six speakers with plenty of power on one amp in the fairing, but the sound quality and shielding is not as good as the Rockford amp. The only disadvantage of the TM400X4ad in my scenario is that the power output does not increase when dropping from 4 ohms to 2 like the SS does.

i am currently running a RFTM400x4ad on the front stage of my bike, running 4 PA 6.5's and 2 horns, very loud and very clear, small enough to fit well and , easy to tune, even better with a dsp,no fm receptions issues. with good shopping they can be had for a good price and i would recomend it as an option to investigate.
