Default JL XD600 Amp Fairing issue

Has anyone put a JL XD600 amp in the fairing of a 2013 or older bike? I got it installed with the new speakers and it sounds great, but can't get the fairing back on. I have moved wires the best I can, but still just a bit off from getting it back on.

Are you using an amp tray. Mine fit perfect. JL XD600 Amp Fairing issue-photo774.jpg

Gan and T. helped me put one in on my 05 ultra. No tray. just sits on top of the HU (sony) with zip ties. It is tight and you can see where it touches the tabs on the back of the gauges (I should trim them a bit). I have Dyna mat on the outer fairing and you can see indents in it also. It took a little persuasion but it fits.

As uplandpinter stated, It will fit with zip ties but you have to make sure the harness is on top of the amp and all your wires are tucked neatly inside the fairing. If necessary you can shave a little off the gauges which will allow the amp to be pushed farther back. I've installed several of these on the 13 and down SG's and Ultras with zip ties without trimming the gauges and the fairing buttoned up like butter.

You can see how square it sits and way above the HU. It is resting on the fairing frame and it is tight against the gauges in front.

Reroute the wires on top of the amp to the bottom of the amp. There’s a space under the amp close to your Biketronics module. Use that empty space for your wires. Way too many wires on top of the amp.

Should that amp sit at a angle? The fairing is hitting the back of the amp I think.

Gann, y'all have got me curious about that big wire run that is in front of the gauges from the factory. Is moving that underneath something that can be done with a stock head unit or is that only possible with an aftermarket one? I'd be interested to see how that is done if anyone has any pics.

In the photo that SBates posted it almost looks like those wires are gone. My 2010 Ultra Classic has massive bundles of wiring that don't look like they want to \be relocated.

Hoyt, I guess I will find out tonight. I was thinking the same thing, that SBates bike looks so clean compared to my mess.
