How many speakers can be run off a Arc 600.4?
#12
I'm following...
The Arc 600.4 was recommended to me in another post. I am putting together a component list (I've not made any purchases yet) which would include four 6.5" speakers (fairing, tour pack, and lowers). If the 600.4 is not up to the task of driving all 4 speakers, I need to consider other options as well.

Id really rather not have to replace the amp again. How about if I pulled the Arc 602s and replaced them with the Polk MMs that I have? Right now I'm planning to run the Polk MM692s in the lids. I mean that I like the sound that I'm getting from the Arc 602s, I'm just not getting enough. And I cant tell that I'm getting anything from the BT Titan 2s in the lowers.

Trying to clarify. Imho this amp is a 4 speaker amp, period.
The ARC 600.4 is a constant power amp in that it will push 150w x 4 regardless of ohms. If I parallel speaker then all of the speakers will share the 150 per channel. That means if u parallel 2 Speaks on channel 1 then they will share 150w or in general get 75w per speaker. Not enuff for most coax and component speaks on a sled, especially the ARC Motos.
If u look at an HDP4 or most other amps that are non constant or are dynamic the watts would be 150 x 4 @ 4 or 250 x 4 @ 2. In this case, if u parallel 2 4 ohm Speaks on channel 1 then they would be consider at a 2 ohm load thus would share 250 Watts thus depending on the efficiency / SPL this is in the ball bark of solid power available.
Just remember that the Speaks u parallel should be 4 ohm or greater (most amp r no less than 2 ohm stable ), like sizes, damn close in SPL and have a reasonable SPL values in general in order to get good volume at speed for the watts given.
Take some time to draw up a plan of what Speaks ur gonna want and where, then verify the amp shopping list and make sure all of these goodies will play well in the same sandbox together.
This constant watt ARC 600.4 is a solid 4 channel amp!! It sucks as a 6 or more speaker amp.

Actually getting a bit tired of chasing the sound that I want. Started out with the BT Roadglide kit and wasn't happy. Then the Arc moto 602s were recommended, I got them and not happy. I mean that I like the sound, but was told the BT 2 channel amp was holding me back. So I got the Arc 600.4 that was recommended to me and not happy. Added lowers and put the BT Titan 2s in there and I cant really tell if I'm getting anything from them. So I order lids to add some 6x9s and find out the Amp wont power the 6 speakers. Frustrated, you bet. I also realize that its entirely my fault.
So after getting back from El Paso, Im gonna break out my extra speakers (Polk MM651s, WDX 6.5s) and switch stuff around and see what happens.
Another question though. If you had my amp and could only run 4 speakers, would it be the fairing and lowers (both 6.5s) or the fairing and lids (6.5s in fairing and 6x9s in lids)?

This is really helpful. Thanks.
