Default What Amp & Speakers to buy for 2017 Limited

I am looking at the following. Appreciate the insight from others.

2017 Limited. Listen to classic rock/soft rock/Motown

Thinking about Rockford Fosgate TM400X4AD amp ($400), Polk audio MM652’s ($150 pair) front and rear, RFXHD install kit ($125) and Flash of radio ($100).

All in for $925 doing it myself less the radio flash. I have an RF authorized dealer performing the radio flash. I am not locked into anything at this point.

Amp because of size, watts per channel (100 min to 300) for each speaker (4) and internal fans to cool it down. Plus H-D install kit for mounting and direct plug into H-D harness.

Polk speakers for resistance to weather, reputation, reviews and price.

For the $'’s and quality am I on the right track? Looking for clarity of sound and performance while looking at a plug & play install. I am not trying to achieve concert hall levels but definitely want upgrade from 25 watt stock speakers.

Dont get to technical as it it will just be a flyover. I get the watts per channel and ohms issues but fall off the cliff after that.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read and reply. It is what makes this a great group of people helping each other out to avoid expensive and disappointing mistakes.

I have that amp, I really like it so far. Since you aren't running four speakers, you may just want to look into a biketronics line leveler. New they are about $80, but you can find one around here for about $50 usually. This removes the requirement to get your radio flashed, and allows your stereo to sound amazing.

The OP is running 2 sets of speakers and the RF flash will do a better job than the LL's.

OP sounds like you're on the right track and you have an amp you can grow with. Not sure I'd run the Polks in the fairing though. They sound good but you can do better. How much more could you squeeze outta your audio budget to get a better fairing speaker?

Overlooked that part. Thanks for the correction.

I have some room in budget but don't won't to go crazy.

What would be the fairing set and then the tour pack set.

I fade about 60/40 on front to rear.

The first version JL XD400 is on the used market. It's a KILLER amp. Very conservative ratings. More than enough for 4 speakers. Also 2 x ground zero micro amps is a nice setup. There's big demand for them if you're not happy with either. But you would be over the moon happy trust me.

That setup should sound good bro. That amp is loud, easy to tune and warm. the polks are viable speaker for the front and rear. Depending on what all is in the install kit , you will need an amp wire harness. You wont need an amp tray as that amp will fit in the tray above your head unit. The only thing I question is the RF dealer flash as most people trying to tame the boom system just fail to get it right.
