Default Is the BT355 killing my fidelity?

Hi guys, I just finished installing a BT355, Rockford Fosgate TM400X4AD, and Arc Moto 602's in the fairing of my 2018 Road Glide Special. I used the amps input light to get a clean signal from my Iphone and factory headunit. I was able to set the phone and HU volume to both two notches from max. I set the gains using the amps built in clipping LED. My head unit was set to bass, treble and AVC off. (all the way to the left). The high pass filter was set to 80 HZ and the amp EQ turned off. When I was finished I found the sound to be muddy. No bass and to much treble. Not warm at all. I did some more reading on the forums and it was suggested to run amps with the BT355 in all pass. I did this and there was an improvement however I still feel this system does not have enough warmth to it. I am running the HU setting with about three notches of positive bass and the treble almost all the way off. I didn't really want to use the amp EQ because it adds both bass and treble. I am thinking my next step will be to either try the system without the BT355 or adjust it. it or maybe get it flashed from a Rockford dealer?? I know it is not suggested to adjust the BT355 but I could use the input light on the amp to adjust the gains?? will adjusting the gains change the sound? I had read that it helped but to me it seems that would just affect the volume?? How about lowering the HPF on the BT355?? Thanks for any input you guys may be able to offer.

2 notches from max on the HU is a dirty signal. 4 from max is a better place to be.

Don't jack with the BT355 HPF.

Tune with all HU bass and treb in middle, AVC off.

Amp HPF at 75-80

Determine how many watts u r feeding the Speaks. R they wired bridged?

Check polarity on all speaker wires.

Make certain your source music is respectable.

Be consistent with the phone volume u r using.

Last but not least, remember that it's a only a 6.5 inch speaker so manage ur expectations accordingly. Those Speaks should smoke the Boom but ur only gonna go so far with 2 6.5s.

Thanks Tailwind, I'll try your suggestions. The speakers are bridged. I did try runnng the amp I never hpf set at 70-80hz but it sounded worse.as a reference I don't think my expectations are to high as my last bike had a cheaper sound stream amp with 5" polks. They sounded much warmer.

Try running that amp with just the 2 channels and not bridged. I will bet you find a much warmer sound from those motos. Those motos are rated at 90w rms and peak at 160w. You are feeding them 200w or so and just may be over powering them causing the highs to scream and the lows to be non existent from over power distortion.

Those 602's will flat out pound with 170-180 watts going to them.
OP have you tried doing a reset on the HU? Sometimes that will do the trick.

Yes they will but in my experience you will loose SQ if any speaker is over powered. Just a suggestion to not run them bridged.

From other posts guys had stated they said that the Motos need power so when I had hooked up my amp originally I set the switch to two channel thinking this was automatically bridged. I wasn’t 100% sure but I contacted Rockford and they told me I still had to wire the outputs properly to bridge. So I did that. They were only ran one day without being bridged. They definitely respond to the higher power. In regular mode the woofers did not move a lot. I will try the reset on the hu and if that doesn’t work maybe try unbridged. To properly asses sq.
can anyone provide a link to doing the reset? Thanks guys!

Okay a quick follow up. My system is sounding better now. I set my head unit four notches from max. I rewired the 602's to run two channel and not bridged. That did tone down the brightness. I also did the HU reset but it didn't seem to make a difference. I then adjusted the bt355. This helped quite a bit. I lowered the hpf just slightly (about 1 hour if it was a clock face) This opened up the sound. Next I gave a slight movement up on the gain. I then had to readjust the gains on the amp. I switched the amp from all pass to hpf and set it to about 70hz. I also turned up the eq on the amp a bit up from totally off. I had a set of polks kicking around so I decided to install them into the lower fairings. Sounds pretty decent now. Thanks for you help guys!
