Default 2018 Boom Box Switching to Weather Band

Been lucky enough to have a 2018 Anniversary Limited for a few months but only have about 2500 miles. A couple of weeks ago I rode to North Carolina and several times the radio switched from the FM radio station over to a weather band channel. First couple of times I thought it was probably me hitting one of the buttons or switches on the handlebars. Coming from a 2010 Limited there are a lot of new handle bar controls!

I rode to Delaware yesterday and it happened again. This time I'm positive I had all fingers around the grips and did not hit any switches. I'll stop by my Dealer later this week to see if they have aby reports of stuff like this but thought I'd throw is out to the forum to see if anyone else has experienced this with the Boom radio.

Weather alert is a setting. Tune the hu to any wb. Top bar has on/off for jumping to wb based on a weather alert.

At the moment when it jumps to the WB there is/was no channel tuned all I got was static. I'll check out the setting for on / off.

Thanks

It's a setting in the menu that is having the WB to come on when an alert is issued.
You can shut it off.

I checked the settings and see that the alert is turned on, channel selected was 5 which at this point has no verbal message(s). I changed it to channel 1 which has a normal weather statement and left it turned on and will watch it on the next few rides. I started to turn it off but it seems that if a severe weather statement or warning was broadcast it would be beneficial to hear.

Odd thing is that when it came on in the past couple of rides it was on a channel with no announcements (channel 5) all I got was static. And to the best of my knowledge there were no weather warnings in the area - but who knows. Again, I left it on and will watch it for the future.

Thanks for your help.

Make sure WB isn't your Favorites. When its favored it defaults to it

Holy cow so much to learn with the new radio.

I found the Favorite button on the dash was set to WB 3 and I changed that to a FM station. Looked at the Favorites list and see 1st button is set to AM, 2nd button to FM, 3rd button to WB, next couple are AM and FM bans with no viable stations.

I can't figure out how to remove the setting for button # 3 which is set to WB. Can I change that to something other than WB.

Holy cow so much to learn with the new radio.
