Default Mounting Beyma pro6wnd in lowers

Finally got around to grinding down the flanges on the basket of these speakers (yeah that wasnt nerve wracking!) and attempted to fit them into the pods I have and they do not fit. Is there a special pod I need to get or is there a spacer that I can get to sit them out a bit? seem to be rubbin inside the pods.

Thanks
Cfave

I just shoehorned some DD AO 6.5 in my pods. I had to sand (dremel) that hump on the inside of the pod, it got thin enough that I could push it down with my fingers! It still wouldn't sit down completely flat (bottomed out on the other hump on the bottom of the pod)...needed a 1/4 inch spacer, didn't have one couldn't find one on the web, I had some dynamat here and cut two rings for each pod, to fit in the recess part of the pod! I also had to dremel the lower flange off the CVO grill, because they would not fit over the VO's flange a little dremeling and then some sanding to make the remaining part of the flange flat! So all that was left was the top part of the grill ring that the screws go through! Another solution is to get or make 1/2 inch wood spacers that drop in the pods recess, glue or caulk those in the recess. Then mount a 2 piece grill kit with a mount ring (glue, screw or caulk, flush on top of the pod...Parts express have some... part #260-422...that setup will give you an extra 1/2 inch of depth...Focal, DD, also have the ring and grill type of grills! hope this helps! Hey Dave have you tried that HAT set up yet?

Thanks, I will see what I can do to get that "smidge" of space I am looking for. Yes I put the HATs in and they are clear as hell but, are a little lacking in the mid range that I thought they might have. They are definitely crisper and clearer than the DDs but, I need to play with them more to get the sound I want out of them. If they dont, I will try something else.

Yeah. somebody needs to make some nice hard rubber spacers that are about 1/4 inch thick that will fit in the pods recess! Good luck with your quest...damn unicorn!

Well I REALLY tore up the pods I have to get them in but ordered another set to get it right. But WOW. These only have 70-9k frequency but wow they really fill in the sound loudly and crisply in the lowers! Still running my DD AWs in the fairing for now. I will give the HATs a whirl after I get the new pods in and the Beymas mounted correctly.
